Q: How do I get to Port San Luis?
A: Follow the directions on this page, but keep going down AVILA BEACH DR about a mile. You will deadend into Port San Luis.

Q: Are dogs allowed on the beach?
A: Dogs are allowed on Fisherman's Beach and Olde Port Beach 24 hours a day. Dogs are not allowed on the main beach in downtown Avila between 10am-5pm everyday.

Q: Is driving a vehicle on the beach allowed?
A: Yes you are allowed to drive on the Olde Port Beach, for unloading your boat only. There is plenty parking on the street above the beach.

Q: Is driving on the pier allowed?
A: Driving on the downtown Avila pier is not allowed, but you can drive out on the Harford Pier in Port San Luis. The Harford Pier has 2 restaurants, 2 fish markets, and a sportfishing company located on it.

Q: Can I build a fire on the beach?
A: During the summer months fire rings are put in for use on Olde Port Beach. They are first come first serve. FYI: People show up early to hold a spot.

Q: Are there lifeguards on duty?
A: During the summer lifegaurds guard the Avila Beach 7 days a week 10am-6pm. Lifeguards will also be out on Olde Port Beach during the weekends 10am-6pm.

Q: Can I hold a wedding ceremony on Avila Beach?
A: Yes, contact Port San Luis Harbor for a permit. They run around $50

Q: Do I need a fishing license to fish off the pier?
A: No license is required when fishing from either of the Port San Luis piers. If you decide to do some surf fishing, however, you must obtain a fishing license.

A: There is lots of free parking in Avila, and also a close to the beach parking lot that costs $5.

Q: What is Themeation?
A: Themeation is something we will be working on over the next year. It's an automated script that checks the time and date each time you visit the website and changes the theme accordingly. This will include a day and night theme, holiday themes, and even themes for large events held in Avila. We encourage you to bookmark us, and check back often.
