Avila Beach California is a friendly town for dogs as a lot of the business owners have a few furry friend or two themselves. Here are some of the things we have collected to help your dog enjoy their time in Avila Beach. Pictured above is my dog (Avila) as a puppy playing on the beach. Places to stay in Avila

  Hotels

Currently None


  Camping

Avila Hot Springs - Dogs are only allowed with RV camping. They must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet when outside your RV.

Port San Luis RV Camping - Dogs are allowed to camp with you but they must be on a leash while outside. All RV camping is within walking distance of dog beach.

KOA Camping - Dogs are allowed with a leash.

  Vacation Rentals
Here are some of the vacation rentals around Avila Beach that allow dogs

233 San Miguel - 2 bedroom/2 bathroom (Sleeps 4-5) single-level house just one and a half blocks to the beach.

235 San Miguel - GULLS COTTAGE, 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment is an upper level unit located one and a half blocks to the beach and downtown.


Doggie Activities

  Beaches, Parks, and Walks
Please remember to pick up after your dogs so we don't lose the right to have them on the beach. You can find complimentary Mitt Mutt Bags in dispensers around the beach. Make sure you check out the Port San Luis Harbor Beach Regulations.

Downtown Avila Beach - Dogs are allowed on this beach off leash and under control before 10am and after 5pm each day.

Olde Port Beach - This beach in Port San Luis Harbor allows dogs off leash and under control all day.

Bob Jones Trail - This is a paved trail that runs through the Avila Valley all the way to Avila Beach and is perfect for walks. All dogs must be leashed.

Avila Park - Having a family picnic or bringing the kids to play on the playground? Dogs are allowed here on a leash.

UPDATE: As of 8-23-2017 dogs are no longer allowed on Fishermans Beach

  Resturants & Patios

Custom House - This restaurant is located in downtown Avila Beach right on promenade. They allow dogs to join you on their patio. They also have a special menu (Bow Wow Chow) for your dog.

Mr. Ricks Beach Bar - This indoor/outdoor bar is located right next to the custom house and allows dogs on the patio as long as there is no big event going on. During events like the Farmers Market, it’s just too crowded and unsafe for dogs. They also have a special menu (Bow Wow Chow) for your dog.

Hula Hut - Has a few tables outside where dogs are welcomed on leash. There is also water and treats available.

Woodstone Market Place - Located right on the Bob Jones Trail in the Avila Valley. They allow dogs on their patio.

  Wineries

Avila Wine & Roasting - Allows dogs (on leash) on their patio. Water and treats.

  Other Activities

Avila Beach Paddlesports - Have a water dog? Dogs are welcome on Kayak and SUP rentals. They even have a few doggie life vests.

  Events

Doggie Parade - The Avila Beach Community Center/Avila Beach Civic Association hosts a doogie parade. On July 4th and then a Santa Parade as part of the Winter Holiday in Avila Beach.

  Other things worth mentioning  

Dogs are not allowed at any of the events at the Avila Beach Concerts at the Cove (Golf Course), the Avila Beach Farmers Market or any events that serve food.
