Whether you enjoy the thrill of the catch or would like to buy some of the freshest fish you can find on the Central Coast, Avila Beach is the perfect place for you. Fishing normally requires a license from the state of California, but you are legally allowed to fish without a license from one of the two public piers: The Harford Pier in Port San Luis and the Avila Beach pier in downtown Avila. Both piers also have places to rent poles and other fishing gear. Make sure you know all the rules from the California Department of Fish and Game.
