Bring your ice chest and enjoy a beautiful day of fishing. In the Spring, you can fish for halibut, salmon, and mackerel. Rockfish, sharks and barracuda are caught in Summer and Fall. There are bait and tackle shops on both piers. No license is required when fishing from either the Avila Beach Pier or Harford Pier. If you decide to do some surf fishing, however, you must obtain a fishing license. They can be purchased at Patriot Sportfishing located on the Harford Pier. Also if you just want buy fresh fish or you just give up on fishing the Harford pier has three fish markets; Bj's Live Seafood, Olde Port Fish & Seafood, and Pete's Pierside Café & Fish Market.
